El Portil Beach in Huelva

1. WHERE ARE WE HIDDEN?

Our house is located on the outskirts of the town of Aljaraque (around 20.000 inhabitants), halfway between the capital of the province of Huelva (12 minutes drive) and the wonderful beaches of Punta Umbría and El Portil (12 min.) and only 45 minutes from the Algarve (Portugal) and 60 minutes from Seville. This area of Huelva Province is known as the Coast of the Light. You will check why when you stay here.

2. HOW DO I REACH YOUR PARADISE?

We are well connected by road with Seville, Madrid, Lisbon, etc, by train with Seville and Madrid, and by air, the closest international airports are Seville (SVQ, Spain, 113 km, 80 minutes) and Faro Airport (FAO, Portugal, 108 km, 70 minutes).

3. WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?

Huelva enjoys fantastic weather with over 300 sunny days a year. Spring is perfect for outdoor activities with blooming flowers, while summer brings hot and sunny days ideal for sun lovers. Autumn offers mild and lovely weather, making it great for exploring. Winter remains mild and pleasant, not very cold but with high humidity. The temperatures are generally comfortable, with averages that make each season enjoyable. Expect occasional brief rain showers between November and March. Whether you crave sunshine or mild temps, Aljaraque has it all!

4. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES OF SPAIN

4.1. OUR DAILY BEACHES

The nearest beach to our house is a sandy coastline that stretches approximately 12 kilometers from La Canaleta in the town of Punta Umbría to the end of the beach in El Portil. Along this distance, the beach is known by different names depending on the area. These variations in names reflect the different environments and amenities available in each segment.

During the summer we use to stay in the house/swimming pool in the mornings, we have lunch, take a rest/nap, and then we go to the beach from 5 or 6 until the sunset. The sunset is the best moment of the day to enjoy the beach and if you have low tide it is just magical. Another option is going early in the morning, before 11 am, and then have lunch in a chiringuito, or in the beach and come back home for the evening. A good tip is try to coincide with the low tide, even if you prefer going early in the morning or for the sunset.
